The Italian Trade Agency Announces Series of Educational Dinners Across the US to Spread Awareness on Italian Denominations of Origin

NEW YORK, July 5, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --In order to promote and educate Americans on the traditions and quality of authentic Italian food and wine, the Italian Trade Agency announces the From Italy to Your Table tour, a series of educational and promotional dinner events in 10 cities across the US throughout the summer. The events, executed in some of America's authentic Italian restaurants, aim to educate trade, media, and industry key players on Italian Denominations of Origin.

"This is one of the most important missions of the Italian Trade Agency: to explain to the American professional as well as to consumers what the Denominations of Origin are, how they came about, the process and certifications and inspections they are subjected to in order to obtain products of exceptional quality and value, tasty, healthy, pure, unlike any others. We aim to show Americans how to taste, cook, eat, savor these products and, eventually, make them a part of their daily meals," says Italian Trade Commissioner Antonino Laspina

Italian food and wines enjoy a stellar reputation of high quality, thanks to their centuries-old traditions and dedication to excellence. Their heritage is certified by the European Union through a series of Geographical Indications: PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), PGI (Protected Geographic Origin) for food, PGI, DOC (Designation of Controlled Origin), DOCG (Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) for wines, and GI (geographical indication) for spirits and fortified wines. The series of events will serve as a vehicle for educating US industry professionals on these prized certifications which guarantee product quality and foster a diverse agricultural production, protecting them from misuse and imitation, and ultimately providing consumers with better knowledge of the products they choose to purchase.

The From Italy to Your Table dinners will feature a dedicated tasting menu of up to 12 dishes created by a local chef in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, utilizing authentic certified Italian ingredients paired with excellent Italian wines. The evening will be enhanced by a guided seminar on the Denominations of Origins given by an Italian food expert. The events will be taking place in the following cities: Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.
